Math Overview

6th grade Math:

Students will be expected to demonstrate competency at the 6th grade in the California State Standards that include Number Sense, Algebra & Functions, Measurement & Geometry, Statistics, Data Analysis & Probability and Mathematical Reasoning.

7th grade Math:

In 7th grade, students are preparing for Algebra by showing an understanding of the California State Standards.  Students will build upon their previously learned math skills from past grade levels to deepen their understanding of basic skills and applying these skills to a variety of complex problems.  Students are expected to know when and how to use skills in order to solve problems with multiple steps.

8th grade Algebra:

Algebra I at Bohannon Middle School is a standards-based course, which focuses on linear equations, quadratic equations, and graphing of both types of equations. The curriculum, Glencoe California Algebra I, is the same as all Algebra I classes in San Lorenzo Unified. Passing this class at a "Proficient" or "Advanced" level is one of the requirements to enroll in Geometry in 9th grade.
